State English Language Arts Performance Descriptors

Explanation: Based on the scale-score earned on the end-of-year state assessment, each student's performance in ELA falls into one of the following levels.

Level 4. The student performing at this level displays advanced mastery of the knowledge, skills, and practices represented by the state's official content standards.

Level 3. The student performing at this level displays proficient mastery of the knowledge, skills, and practices represented by the state's official content standards.

Level 2. The student performing at this level displays partial proficiency in mastering the knowledge, skills, and practices represented by the state's official content standards.

Level 1. The student performing at this level displays clearly inadequate proficiency in mastering the knowledge, skills, and practices represented by the state's official content standards.
